Ruth Silkwood, 87, of Decatur, passed away at 8:46 p.m., Tuesday July 26, 2011 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
 
Services to celebrate Ruth’s life will begin with a visitation from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday evening, July 29, 2011 at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 30th, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. in the Mt. Zion Township Cemetery with Rev. Joel Stevenor officiating.   Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.dawson-wikoff.com. Memorials may be made to the Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church.
 
Ruth was born July 22, 1924 in Decatur, the daughter of Victor and Jane (Smith) Peacher. She married Charles Silkwood on July 22, 1942. He preceded her in death on October 19, 2010. She had formerly worked as the assistant manager for S & H Green Stamps. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church.
 
Surviving are her daughters: Virginia Carter and her husband Marvin of Mt. Zion and Barbara Bridgeman and her husband Gary of Decatur; sister: Pearl Richards of Decatur; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
 
She was preceded in death by her husband, son: Michael, parents, and brother.

Virginia, & Barbara I am sosorry youlost Mom... I thought she wasn't doing good the last time I talked to her... I send you many hugs....you girls were the greatest to her...she and & always spoke highly of the both of you I will miss talking to Aunt Ruthie... it made me very happy I was calling her today to tell her I'd be seeing her soon... Dear Virginia and Barbara and families, Was so sorry to learn of your mother's passing. But take heart that she is loving being reuinited with Mike and your Dad and her parents. She will miss you just as you will miss her but she would also want everyone to know tht you took good care of her and made her lst days richer because you were with her.
May God comfort and bless you as only He can do.  We will keep you in our prayers.  I have nothing but fond memories of both of your folks and know tht I had a lot of fun when we played together as little ones.  Take care, Love, Cecilia {Alexander} Peach
